Galaxy's Edge Milk Stand Review
/In mid-January, just after the crowds slowed from the holidays, I visited Walt Disney World with my husband and a few friends. Of course, we had an amazing time because...Disney World! We spent a fair bit of time investigating the new Star Wars-themed land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios known as Galaxy’s Edge. Galaxy’s Edge is very well crafted with lots of detail and things to explore. We all loved it. I’m looking forward to going back and discovering new things. One of the things to do in Galaxy’s Edge is to try the Blue and Green Milk beverages from the Milk Stand.
The Milks do not actually contain milk. They are dairy-free and use a blend of rice milk and coconut milk.
Blue Milk
The first time I purchased something from the Milk Stand, I didn’t encounter any line. I was attending an “extra magic hour” which meant that all of the attractions in Disney’s Hollywood Studios were open an extra two hours for resort guests only. The low crowds meant that I asked to make sure they were still open since there was literally no one else in line. Side note: Extra Magic Hours are amazing.
My first purchase from the Milk Stand was Blue Milk. Based on the descriptions of the drinks, I knew I would like Green Milk more, but Blue Milk was from the original trilogy and it just made sense to try it first in case I only had time for one. Blue Milk was described as “tropical” and Green was described as “citrus”. I typically do not like things that have the description of “tropical” for their flavor. This meant I was very pleasantly surprised when it turned out that I loved the flavor of Blue Milk! I thought it was fantastic. The texture was similar to a smoothie but thinner. As it turns out, the flavors are specifically: “dragon fruit, pineapple, lime, and watermelon”- all flavors I enjoy. It was really refreshing. I loved Blue Milk and I look forward to getting it next time.
The rest of my travelling party also tried Blue Milk. There were five of us in total, all adults. Everyone in the party liked Blue Milk and was pleasantly surprised by it.
Green Milk
The second time we went to Hollywood Studios, we tried Green Milk. Since this was not during Extra Magic Hours, there was a line. The line wasn’t super long, but it did have around a dozen people in it. I went to get in the line but remembered there was a mobile ordering option. I went on to the Disney app and ordered. My drink was ready within a few minutes- much faster than waiting in line. Since I paid through the app, the cast member making the drinks was able to make mine while waiting for the next order from the cashier taking the orders from the line. Mobile ordering is available in a lot of places around the parks, and I highly recommend it. I’ve only had good experiences with mobile ordering.
Green Milk is described officially as “citrus” flavored. It has the same texture as Blue Milk and is also served cold. The flavors are actually mandarin orange, passion fruit, grapefruit, and orange blossom.
Since I enjoyed Blue Milk, I was hoping I would enjoy Green Milk even more. My opinion on Green Milk, to quote one of my favorite droids, was a “No, thank you.” Unfortunately, I found the Green Milk flavor to be too sweet and there was just a taste in it that I didn’t like. It was definitely a secondary/aftertaste thing. The initial flavor was fine, but there is something in it I don’t like, but I’m not exactly sure which flavor it was. I handed my glass to my husband, who did enjoy it.
In fact, my entire party besides me enjoyed Green Milk. They even preferred it to Blue Milk. They all liked both, but Green was everyone’s favorite- except for me. I do plan to try Green Milk again next time I am there, but maybe I will try the version with tequila in it to see if it improves it. There are two alcoholic versions: Blue Milk with rum and Green Milk with tequila.
Based on the reviews I read, I had been skeptical about Blue and Green Milk. Happily, my fears were unfounded as my whole party (5 adults) enjoyed them. I plan to get Blue Milk again in the future. Galaxy’s Edge is full of unique experiences and I think the Milk Stand is a great little addition.
“Last week, I wrote a blog post called The Simmer’s Guide to Batuu to give Simmers who haven’t been to Galaxy’s Edge some context for the pack. The post was well-received, and I’m continuing the idea today with a post dedicated to the food and beverages of Batuu. Many of which seem to be making an appearance in this DLC!”
